The university is located in the picturesque surroundings of Udaipur "The city of lakes". The University originally established as the Rajasthan Agriculture University (1962) was renamed as the University of Udaipur (1964) and later, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (1984). In August 1987, the University was bifurcated into two independent universities, viz. Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (Udaipur) and Rajasthan Agricultural University (Bikaner). The disciplines related to Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Management and Law remained with this university. It assumed the character of teaching - cum - affiliating university having 04 constituent colleges, 27 post graduate department and 110 affiliated college in the district of Udaipur, Rajsmand, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Banswara and Chittorgarh.
